Workshop Facilitators

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who can help us to connect young people with their Heritage and the natural world around them by facilitating activities for visiting school groups and our events programme.

Young people visit our site to learn about the history and heritage of the Forest of Dean and the local environment. They also visit to take part in adventure, team building, problem solving and creative workshops, they experience activities that are engaging, active and enable them to learn about the unique local heritage, the natural world and themselves.

You will be expected to deliver engaging, fun workshops with a focus on learning through experience and exploration.

Our Facilitators typically deliver sessions to groups of up to 10 young people and their school teachers/adults.

A knowledge of the national curriculum is helpful, but not essential.

What really counts is enthusiasm and ability to inspire young people with good knowledge and experience.

If you have an interest in any of the following areas it would be great to hear from you to discuss how your knowledge and enthusiasm could benefit local school children and other visitors to the Dean Heritage Centre.

We are adding workshops to our offer all the time so if your particular interest is not on the list, but you think it should be then get in touch.

Trustees

As a Trustee of the Dean Heritage Museum Trust your time and expertise could make a significant difference to the Dean Heritage Centre, a well loved local museum, as we make plans for the future.

The Dean Heritage Centre tells the stories of the Forest of Dean and looks after a collection of over 20,0000 historical documents and artefacts. The Board of Trustees sets the strategy and oversees the management for the Dean Heritage Centre. Prior experience of being a Trustee is not required, as we offer induction training, and we are open to applicants of all ages and backgrounds.

The Board and the staff are keen to develop the museum, so that it meets the expectations of a 21st Century audience. We are particularly seeking Trustees who have knowledge and experience within construction project management or human resources. The role is voluntary and the time commitment is not regular, but usually involves about eight meetings per year, although most Trustees also attend smaller meetings throughout the year.

If you are interested in helping to support the Dean Heritage Museum Trust and wish to find out more about what the role would involve, then please contact chair@deanheritagecentre.com.
