Frequently Asked Questions
For further information contact us
Q: Do I need to book in advance?
A: You do not need to pre-book tickets for entry into the Centre. Some of our events need pre-booking or ticket purchases. For example, visits with Father Christmas need tickets.

Q: What time does the centre close?
A: The Centre has different closing times during the year. We recommend checking our opening times before your visit. You can find this information on our social media or at the bottom of our website.

Q: Is the centre accessible?
A: We have some disabled car parking spaces available in our car park.
A portion of the site is accessible for wheelchair users, prams, and those with mobility aids. But we regret that Gallery 41, the charcoal burner's camp and the free mine are not accessible.
The museum and the coffee shop have disabled toilets. Be aware, paths around the main site are stony, and the woodland paths may become muddy after rain. You can find more details about our site's accessibility in the accessibility guide.
Q: Can I bring my dog?
A: Dogs are welcome in The Heritage Coffee Shop and our Gift Shop. To protect our wildlife, we can only allow assistance dogs on the rest of the site, including the Gruffalo Trail, the Museum, and all other areas of our site.

Q: Can we visit the Heritage Coffee Shop without paying to enter the rest of the centre?
A: The Heritage Coffee Shop is on-site, but separate from the Museum and the rest of the Centre. Come and try the delicious food and drink available!

Q: Can we bring our own food and drink?
A: Yes, there are picnic benches here. You can enjoy your own food and drink if you want. Please use the bins for any rubbish.

Q: How long should I allow for a visit?
A: The choice is yours. But we would suggest that you allow at least 2 hours for the best experience.

Q: Are there any road closures I should be aware of before visiting?
A: For all traffic and road updates, head to our Facebook page.
