About the event

The work examines how natural elements - water and stone - have influenced cultural narratives in the region over time, exploring stories such as the legend of the Wye and Sabrina, witches, curative waters and wells, scowles, megalithic monuments, and mining myths.

The audio pieces combine field recordings from around the Forest of Dean with storytelling and traditional folksong.
We'll be sharing excerpts from the audio documentaries and there will be live performances from some of the people who contributed to the project. It's an opportunity to hear how the folk of the Forest of Dean connect with their landscape through story and song, and how folk history continues to evolve today in response to contemporary pressures on the land and community.
